Optimism for Entrepreneurs
If you suddenly hit a bump in the road, read this
You’re not lost. You’re just exploring a new path.
I get it.
You dropped everything to transform your business idea into a reality. You let go of a stable high-paying job in exchange for a minimum monthly income, which sometimes you don’t even get.
You let go of your old lifestyle in exchange for discomfort.
You dedicate yourself to working more hours in a day than you would normally commit.
It’s all because you know that this is what your heart desires and you’d rather build your own dreams than exert your efforts building someone else’s.
Your business seems to be growing better each and every day.
And then, you find yourself staring blankly ahead.
You can’t move.
You’re confused but nothing’s going on in your head.
You feel trapped in the moment.
You feel lost.
I’ve been there so many times than I could even remember.
And I’m here to tell you that if you suddenly hit a hard wall, it’s really meant to happen.
And it’s going to benefit you soon.
At some point in our lives, we’re swayed by the thought of success, no matter what success truly means for us.
Maybe your definition of success is about retiring early and never having to work for someone else.
Maybe that’s about having millions on your bank account and not knowing where to spend it next.
Or maybe, success is about winning against people who thought you will never be good enough, that you will never make it.
No matter how we define success, it all feels the same way. And that’s the exact feeling you have when you know you’re on the right track.
Fulfilling, isn’t it?
But what would you do now that you feel lost? Should you just give up?
Of course, the answer is no. And you know that already.
Here’s probably something no one has ever told you yet:
When you feel like you’re on a roll and you suddenly felt lost, you’re not really veering off course. You’re just exploring a new path that no one has ever dared to traverse before.
Building your own business is supposed to be hard; otherwise, everybody will do it. It’s meant for people who have a strong determination to chase after what they want with a strong voice inside their heads saying, “this is definitely for me and I know I will succeed with it.”
It’s meant for people who wake up every morning to do better than they did yesterday.
It’s meant for people who will make it possible even if people stopped believing that it is.
Building a business is meant for people who are willing to embrace failure even if it costs everything they have.
After all, Bill Cosby points out that:
In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear or failure.
So if you’re feeling lost today, don’t worry. Building your business is not an easy feat. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed because there’s so much to do and so much to learn.
It’s okay to fail, to make huge mistakes, to disappoint people, to not get approval, and to feel tired.
It’s okay to be scared of what tomorrow will be and how things will turn out. How your business will turn out.
It’s okay to rest.
It’s okay to have your moment of peace.
You need to take a break, to slow things down, to sink it all in.
Building your business is truly overwhelming, but trust me, this is going to be the best part of your life.
And everyone will see that you are good enough. And you will make it.
